Dorthea Pickard Award

I recently came across my 1986 essay ‘Our Crushes And Our Times’ which won the Dorthea Pickard Excellence in Writing Competition. A few of things struck me: I must’ve been required to write in third person, our family joke is that I keep a spreadsheet of crushes (just added Noah Emmerich), and, most critically, I was interested in feminism in high school. Here’s the first few paragraphs:
